An Interactive Workshop Designed to Help You Set Standards in Your Telephone Practice

In conjunction with Seattle Pacific University, Carol M. Stock brings to the Northwest her acclaimed workshop on telephone nursing that examines the most current legal and clinical issues unique to this growing health care field. Topics in the intense, one-day session include:

  • How to triage - step by step
  • Evaluating and designing protocols
  • Documentation- forms and formats

Workshop Objectives

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify high-risk situations in telephone practice
  • Design and evaluate triage protocols
  • Provide telephone nursing defensively
  • Demonstrate defensible documentation techniques
  • Understand the legalities of giving advice across state lines
  • Prepare for the NCC Telephone Nursing Practice Certification Exam

Who Should Attend?

All health care professionals who provide telephone advice, information, follow-up or referrals, or who work in facilities with few policies or guidelines in place, will find this seminar especially valuable.  Among those who should attend are telephone nurses, nurse managers, office and clinic nurses, and other interested health-care professionals.

FEATURED SPEAKER

Carol M. Stock, J.D., M.N., R.N., is principal of Carol M. Stock & Associates, a legal and health care consulting firm. An adjunct professor in Seattle Pacific University's Department of Graduate Nursing, Carol received her law degree from Seattle University and her master's degree in nursing from the University of Washington. She is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, Sigma Theta Tau, the National Certification Corporation (NCC) Telephone Nursing Practice Content Team, and the AAACN's Telephone Nursing Practice Standards Task Force. Prior to practicing law, Carol was a family nurse practitioner in both rural and urban ambulatory care facilities. She lectures frequently on telephone nursing, risk management and legal issues in health care, and has developed an online Journal of E-Health Nursing (www. carolstock.com).
